Hayle Utd U14s 3 - 0 Leedstown U15s

The second match in Hayles pre-season was played this evening on a perfect pitch in bright and sunny conditions verses Leedstown U15s - a team from the age group above.

The opening exchanges were all about Hayles one-touch passing and moving with all the players, including welcome returns from Owen Clary-Brom, Jordan Richards and Callum Philcox who were unavailable for last Sundays friendly, composed and confident. Some great work in midfield led to Justin Wood playing an inviting pass into Callum's path on the corner edge of the area who then unleashed a fantastic shot that nestled into the far top corner of the Leedstown net. Shortly after that some more intricate passing in and around the penalty area resulted in Owen slotting home from close range. The second half saw a much more determined Leedstown try to interrupt Hayles passing game however this was mainly through launching the ball upfield which was duly dealt with by Chaz, Jordan, Corey and stand-in 'keeper AJ or by fouling. Hayles persistant efforts to play football was reward with a third goal, a second for Callum who shook off the attentions of several Leedstown defenders to slot into the far bottom corner. Overall this was a good exercise and satisfactory performance

Hayle Utd U14s 5 - 0 Newquay Dynamos U14s

Kernow League Champions Hayle Utd played their first pre-season friendly today, 1st August 2010, at home vs the East Cornwall League Champions Newquay Dynamos.
In wet conditions, but on a perfect surface, Hayle Utd took to the field without five of their regular players giving debuts to some new additions to the squad who all
settled in very well.
After a tentative start between two teams whose paths have never crossed before Hayle Utd took the lead with a thunderous freekick from Captain Justin Wood after Craig
Wilcox had been up-ended just outside the penalty area. From then on Hayle began to take control of the game with some excellent work in midfield with Justin and Rhys
Allen pulling the strings and some excellent wing play from debutant Liam Hunter who should have been rewarded with a goal but for a brilliant save from the Newquay 'keeper. Some more good work from Liam lead to the second goal with a fine finish from Craig before half time.
After the break and a few changes Hayle continued to dominate with man-of-the-match Rhys Allen bagging a hatrick - the pick of the goals being a magnificent diving
header from a Craig Wilcox cross
New 'keeper James Wignell was hardly troubled however was confident and assured with his handling and distribution with the excellent Chaz Eddy and debutant Corey Jewell
dominant in central defence. Another new signing, Sam Kay, alternated the left midfield and left back position with Elliot Morcom who both performed with great skill and
confidence and Max Clymo and Tom Hall accomplished on the right. Finally, Thomas Philcox, younger brother of regular Callum came on and got into a good goalscoring
position only for the ball to be smothered by the Newquay 'keeper late on.
An excellent performance and very satisfactory start to pre-season! Next game Wednesday 4th August vs Leedstown U15s 6.15pm kick-off at home
